I love having a pretty bedroom for my guests. Ours isn’t very big, but I think it has all the basics and is a comfortable place for guests to rest and relax. For fall I used some pretty orange tones, but for this Spring and Summer, I wanted things to lighten up. Sunshine and shades of yellow always brighten up any room and make it look happy. Check out how to create an affordable & inviting guest bedroom.
Even though this room isn’t really large, there’s room for a small nightstand and comfy chair next to the closet. I chose a chair that had legs and open arms so it looked smaller in size. I keep a luggage rack and plenty of hangers and extra blankets and pillows inside the closet for guests. There’s also slippers and an assortment of toiletries in the top dresser drawer in case a guest forgot anything. Hopefully, I have everything they might need without having to ask.
I’ve mixed a grouping of yellow paisley and buffalo check pillows. The yellow plaid throw blanket adds more color and pattern to the mix.
I’m always debating on replacing the ceiling fan with a pretty chandelier. However, since we live in the desert, I think cool over-rides beauty, so the fan stays. There’s a nice big window too in case the weather is cool. A fresh air breeze is always the best when we have cooler temperatures. The window looks out onto the back yard so there’s a great view of the garden and pool.
This room is put together with Thrifty Finds and DIY Projects. You can see the cost breakdown and how the room came together here. The chair and headboard I found at Hotel Liquidators. You can see the step-by-step tutorial of how I redid the headboard here. The entire room came together for about $200, not bad for some thrifty finds and a little DIY. Changing out the pillows and throw for the seasons is a really thrifty way to create an affordable and inviting guest bedroom.

Hi Marty! Like you, I try to make our guest room look beautiful. I change out the duvet cover in winter to a quilt and coverlet. My husband always laughs on how may pillows are on the bed. We done on such an inviting room. Stay healthy
Love the traditional look and simple elegance … and on a budget!
You create such lovely spaces in your home, Marty, and I love the way you make things look so elegant and inviting without spending a lot of money. I would be delighted to be a guest in your home!
Thank you so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
Very nice! We’re setting up a guests bedroom since our youngest son just moved out. I had thought of some of those elements, but had not considered a luggage rack–good idea! And I agree, I love ceiling fans.
