I know it is impossible since I am only 39 and some months old to have a grandson graduating from High School – – – – -However, I do – a precious young man that totally has my whole heart. This young man has a scholarship to ASU and will be sharing a dorm for 4 guys. He graduated on Friday night and had a big Graduation Party last night.
Tons of family and friends joined in to congratulate him. I tried to think of an appropriate gift and came up with the idea to send him off with a few Dorm Essentials.
Space will be an issue, so I started with a collapsible clothes hamper. Dirty clothes need to be contained. Then I decided to fill it with all kinds of basics that he might need.
Again since storage is short in supply at most dorms, some of these canvas bins are always a favorite. They can hold all kinds of school supplies, plus socks, tee-shirts, and anything you can think of. 6 of those will come in hand.
Plastic stackable storage bins are always super handy, so I got him three of those. Inside one of them I put a bunch of Command Strips, Super Glue, Velcro Strips and Bandaids. Just some things he could use.
All 4 of these guys will be sharing one bathroom, so he will definitely need a bathroom caddy for his shampoo and toiletries. I got him two so he can use them for whatever. For now I filled one with sponges, cleaning cloths, pot holders and dish towel.
I also picked up a couple packs of batteries and an extension cord that he might need.
One thing he might not think about is a tool box. I found a cloth Tool Bag and filled it with a hammer, screwdrivers, and tape measure. Just the basics to get him started.
Of course, he will need some sheets, so I got him a set in light blue.
Another essential is a set of towels. I liked these striped ones, so a bath towel, hand towel, and two washcloths.
I used the laundry hamper as a gift bag and just put everything inside.
Here is a picture of my grandson with his girlfriend all dressed up for Prom. They are both such cute and special young people.
This is awesome Marty. What a great graduation gift. Your grandson is adorable. Congrats.
What a great idea for a graduation gift! Congratulations to your grandson.
Fabulous idea! You’ve thought of everything. He’s a lucky young man to have you for his grandmother and you are a lucky grandmother to have such a handsome grandson! Congratulations to you both!
Excellent gifts, Marty, ESPECIALLY for smaller spaces. I can vouch for that!
What GREAT ideas for a grad present, Marty!
My sister’s last (4th) child had her grad party yesterday – hope my sister is ready to be an empty nester. It’s a big deal, that’s for sure!
Your grandson is adorable and his gf is beautiful. Will they be going to same college? Ah, young love, so precious.
You look awesome. btw. Really pretty. ♥
Hugs.
Thanks so much No he is going to ASU and she is going to Uof A in Tucson. So they have to continue with a long distance friendship. Cute kids, they will be great.
Marty, love the creativity re the gifts as I’m like that too. It’s amazing the things that will be needed that he’s not even aware of yet. For all that you bought he certainly has a great start. Love the environmental thinking in not wrapping all of this in wrapping paper!
My sister use to live in Tucson years ago and visited her twice when my area had snow! Too funny coming home with a tan.
So thoughtful and each item will be greatly appreciated when he gets there. Love all the colors you picked out for him. They grow so fast.
You looked great and beautiful in your clothes. You are such a classy looking lady.
