If your kitchen is like mine, it is the center of action all the time. We are either cooking, snacking or eating a full meal. Seems like something is always happening in the kitchen. This is the room that gets a real workout. I got bored so I switched up the kitchen a little. I wanted something different to look at for a while. Swapping out accessories is always fun.
To me easy summer kitchen decor means stripped down a little – not so fussy, more of a minimalist. Saying minimalist almost made me laugh. I am not really a total minimalist as you can readily see. I do like some decor, to me minimal means not necessarily bare-bones, just less than normal. Anyway — – this is what I came up with and it felt good to have the kitchen clean and switched up a little.
Keeping the back wall simple with minimal decor was my goal. On the island, my pig came out to play. I just love this funny yellow pig with his snooty turned-up nose.
Just for fun and to keep the island simple. I added my faux cheese board next to the pig.
I switched up the breakfast table setting a bit. I love yellow flowers, my favorites, so this bouquet had to be the centerpiece. When I started to put out the napkins, I didn’t have 6 of either pattern. I love to mix and match, so I used the yellow windowpane on the sides and the yellow floral for the captain’s setting. I could have used 3 of each and alternated them too. I love to mix and match so two patterns are always fun to me.
A big bunch of wheat seemed like it belonged with the yellow flowers.
My table is a stunning piece and I am asked about it all the time. The twisted trestle legs are gorgeous. I really love this piece and it has a secret. The top folds over and it can also become just a narrow console type table. I did a post about it a few years ago, you can see that post here.
Love the pretty yellow decor in the kitchen and breakfast area, it goes well with the adjoining family room too.
You kitchen is always beautiful and love your sweet piggy. I seem to say this every comment but the light that comes in your rooms is so fabulous. Love it.
Happy Wednesday. Have a great day.
What a nice kitchen and eating area you have. Love the way you decorate it. The yellow really does seem to fit in the summer. So cute.
Hi Marty,
The kitchen looks beautiful! I love your granite and the Pig is so cute. 🙂
I love the yellow touches you added. I love to add some yellow in my kitchen about this time every year when it is so hot outside. It gives me cool thoughts like a nice big glass of lemonade.😀
