The Hall Bathroom Makeover Refresh Has Started + A Few Changes

Are you planning a bathroom refresh too?  Here are a few design ideas that can update your bathroom on a budget.

If you’ve followed along then you know I’ve talked about redoing this bathroom since we moved in 2 years ago.  It isn’t a horrible bathroom, in fact it is totally functional so it got put on the back burner.  It is just also totally builder grade and not very pretty.  Nothing is broken, it just all looks blah.  Our home was a rental for years, so some of the finishes have been neglected to say the least.

As you can see, nothing horrible just nothing great either.

I still would like to totally gut and redo the entire bathroom with a beautiful new walk in shower or tub and tile surround, & new upgraded vanity.  HOWEVER that still isn’t in the budget, so next best thing is to give it a facelift, makeover, refresh or whatever you want to call it with a few upgrades.

What to do about the vanity – paint or stain has been my huge hangup.  I love my pretty new white kitchen since we remodeled it.

I have thought about painting the vanity white or maybe even black, but that just hasn’t appealed to me.  I keep seeing the wood look resurging in cabinets and I think I would like to have a wood look vanity in here.

I have decided to STAIN the vanity.  I loved the makeover I did to the bathroom vanity in our previous home. This rich color is so current at the moment, so I am going to do a repeat.

You can see the total makeover and reveal here

I have ordered some of the major pieces that I plan to use. This is a really cost conscious makeover, so here are the products I plan on using.

32″ Round Mirror from Target. $79.99

23.5″ x 10″ x 2″ Floating Espresso shelf from Home Depot.  $19.98

I am for sure using two and maybe 3, I just have to see when they come in.

These cabinet pulls from Amazon  $15.37 5/pack

Chair height – elongated bowl toilet from Home Depot  $99.00

(Ours has been really scratched with something and has dark stains.)

I am shopping for a remnant piece of marble, granite or quartz for a new counter top for the vanity.  I am also looking at several different styles of faucets too.

I have my favorite DIY guy coming to take a look at my plans.  He’ll be changing out the vanity top and replacing the toilet.  I want to get started on that vanity asap.  I can’t wait to get it stained and see how gorgeous it is going to be.

CHANGE OF PLANS – – –

When my guy got here today, he suggested a couple of changes.

Instead of trying to find a new sink top for our current vanity, it wouldn’t cost that much more to just swap out the vanity, so that is what we’re going to do.  This will give the bathroom a much more updated makeover than keeping the old builder grade vanity.

This is the one I am loving.  It is currently on sale for $299. (A nice counter top was going to be around $199, so upgrading the entire vanity for just $100 more is a bargain.)

He also suggested to replace the medicine cabinet with a larger (what all the builders are using now) frameless version. 16 x 36  $144.39

He has some free time in two weeks, so the “refresh” is now a  makeover and it is on.

New Toilet

New Vanity

New Medicine Cabinet

Stay tuned, I can’t wait.  I will be sure to share all the details and the step by step.

To stay up to date on all the makeovers taking place at our new home, I would love to have you follow me.  You don’t want to miss any of our“Hits & Misses”.
