Simple Calm and Neutral Decor

My daughter and I went to see some amazing model homes a couple of weeks ago.  These were Million+ homes, but they were decorated so beautifully.  Sometimes a designer goes a little overboard, but these were all done with such simple calm and neutral elegance.  I was inspired by their unique simplicity.  The other day I was still thinking about them and decided to give my bold family room a change.  Why not try to add some of their simple calm and neutral decor to my room.

For my Spring Home Tour, I went really bold with a pretty gold and black combination of pillows and decor.  This is a total reversal, but I love both.  Sometimes we need a bit of both in our world.

My horse painting is the focal point of my family room.  I adore this painting.  Some of my favorite colors are gray, gold, and camel.  I also really like different shades of brown, so this painting allows me to use any of those colors all the time in different ways.  Gray and camel is a favorite combination of mine.  When we were visiting those model homes, I loved that a lot of their decor was done in gray and camel too.

This combination of pillows is one of my favorite.  The small print pillow has different shades of gray and camel.  The larger pillow is gray linen with camel accent trim around the edge.  The rafia camel pillow has such great texture.  I love them all together.  Such a great color combo that is soft and neutral.

This color combination also compliments my gray recliners.

I guess I am basically more of a neutral person than I am bold, but it is fun to do both sometimes.
