Seems like when you move into a new house you have the job of shuffling furniture all over the place for a while. Pieces that were in certain rooms before don’t necessarily work in the same rooms in a new house. Then there is the problem of too much furniture and where to put it or do your just sell it.
As you guys have seen in this house, I have been moving furniture all over the place. I think you have to live in a place for a while and see how each space functions for you before you can nail down furniture placements. Several pieces from our master bedroom and the family room from the last house wound up in the loft/office area of this house, but then I still had a couple of strays that needed a home, so they have finally found a place here too.
The drapes and leather chair were in our family room before and the settee was in our bedroom. The wicker trunk was a makeshift family room coffee table when we first moved into this house. Now all those pieces reside in the loft/office and they work out pretty good.
Still room for my office in the corner and that gateleg table has proven to be the perfect desk for me. The wicker truck holds the porta crib that I can pop up in a minute when we babysit our grandson, so that is super handy since I usually set it up in here.
The entertainment center that was in the family room in the last house, fits perfectly on this wall. Now I have plenty of room for all my office storage needs and a tv behind the doors so I can watch a favorite program if I want too. Also it is fun to decorate the bookcases with some of my favorite things here too.
This is such a super comfortable “Girl Cave” since I am the only one that uses this area at all.
As a reminder, this is what the space looked like when we moved in. Just 3 wall and that is all, nothing to brag about.
But now I like it and I think I finally have all the pieces necessary to make it feel like “home”.
How about you, do you swap furniture around from one room to the next to try and get it right?
