We had such a great time at our dinner party last week. Tons of great family time and so nice to have everyone over. It was a great way to celebrate my sons and my birthdays. However it was sad to say goodbye to our grandson who is moving to Nashville. We wish him well in his new adventure and love him so much.
After all the aftermath was cleaned up, dishes done, house vacuumed and mopped, it was time to put the tables back together. I had added two leaves to the dining room table so I could seat seven there. (We had 15 in all, so I had 8 at the breakfast table too) I put the table back to a small round and decided to do a little bit different tablescape.
I had two boxes in the garage that had never been unpacked until last week and this wonderful vase was in one of the boxes. I kept wondering where in the world it went, so I was thrilled to find it. I really like using it to display a few twigs. It always looks so elegant with just a few stems reaching sky high and this room certainly has the sky high ceiling for it.
It’s funny how these stems use to look so tall in our last house and here they look small.
I didn’t totally reinvent the wheel. The same tablesettings as before, just a different table runner, flatware and centerpiece.
Instead of using two large candlesticks, I used three small ones and added some of the glitter balls I had on the table for the dinner party. (You can see that table setting here.) I didn’t want this setting to be as fancy as before or at the party, so I went for casual with a little glitz.
I love switching things up, how about you?
