The Mirror Decision

I had tons of suggestions about the living room mirror and what to do to bring this room together.  You guys are always so great about giving feedback and suggestions.  I love it.  I found it really interesting as to the response about the mirror.

Some of you were adamant in both directions about leaving it and turning it vertical, then there was the group that thought it should go behind the entry console.  A few of you absolutely hate the mirror and thought it was time for it to go.  I did a little count on what you all thought and found that really informative.

Here’s how the tally came out.  As Is – Vertical – Loose It.

62 of you said to leave it As Is – while 33 said to turn it vertical and 5 were definitely in favor of loosing it all together.

In checking who the 62 that were in favor of leaving it As Is I found that most like Traditional or Transitional decor.  There were a few of you that liked the Farmhouse style also in this group.  It was also interesting that age had nothing to do with these 62.   Most were young women and a few in my age group.  A few had very beautiful traditonal homes, but most were transitional and very stylish and up to date.

The 33 that said to turn it vertical were the most diverse group of all.  They liked almost every style you could think of and all had stunning homes.  The vertical votes also included the ones that thought it would work behind the console as well as the sofa if turned vertical.

The 5 that voted to loose it all together did not like anything about the mirror, the size, frame  or anything.  To them it was just not a good thing at all.

99% of you agree with me that I need some drapes.   You also suggested to do the drapes first, find the rug that I want and then figure out the rest.  I think that was fabulous advice.

I have decided that I want to do soft white linen drapes.  Plain and simple.  I also think they would look fabulous hung high above the  arched part of the window and flow just down the sides of the window.  Nothing dramatic, just something to add height and frame the window with a little softness.  I am also considering using a lucite rod.  I think it will look nice and be non-descript.  From there I will decide what I really want to do with the mirror.

You guys gave me tons of great suggestions and a lot to think about.  I always appreciate your input and thank you so much.  It really helps me to see things from another view point.

Be sure to get all your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can’t wait to see you there.
