I have been looking and looking for a rug for the living room and haven’t found anything so far that I love. When we first moved in I had my cowhide rug in here and I loved it. Just enough unusual to give the room some character and to go with the tile floors.
However, I think the cowhide rug just makes the family room, so it is there to stay. This is a small room and the rug is the perfect size. Now I do need a glass coffee table, perhaps two new matching recliners and new blinds and drapes – but all in due time.
ok, so much for all that. Back to the situation at hand. I do think the living room needs an area rug under the coffee table to sort of separate that space from the dining area since it is all one long room.
My furniture is cream, so nothing really white white works in here. Off white or off white and beige are great. As you can see the tile is really a medium dark beige and cream, so the rug I choose has to work with that.
Now that you understand all the colors and textures I’m working with, here are a couple of possibilities that I found on sale through eSaleRugs.
This is possibility #1 an all over floral pattern. I looked at all kind of geometric ones, but since the tile is layed on the diagonal, I thought anything with scrolls or geometrices would be too much. This all over floral pattern would be a contrast.
I like that they show you a real life picture, that helps to see the pattern and color.
and I always like to see the pile of a rug too.
Possibility #2 – leaf design This one looks really beige, but that might be what I need. I do like the abstract leaf pattern.
This picture makes the beige look a little lighter, so not sure at all about the color whether it is dark or light.
Not much pile on this one. Pretty flat weaved.
Possibility #3 – Abstract Design I love the abstract design of this one. How different and unusual.
I really think this has a ton of interest.
Hi-lo pile that is interesting and looks darker and lighter depending how the light hits it. I think this one is my favorite so far.
