As you all know, I love changing up my decor and especially for the changing seasons. However, I am not into totally re-inventing the wheel, just a few accessory changes and I think you can have a whole new look and feel to a room. My family room is the room we spend the most time in, so it is the room I change up and play in the most. When you spend a lot of time in one room I think it is easy to get tired of the look and want a change.
This room got a complete makeover the first of last year. Neutral all the way for the background. Cream-colored walls and soft beige-colored roman shades and drapes give me a neutral background that allows me to keep things neutral or spice it up with color.
For Fall I kept everything in brown tones.
Different patterns and textures of brown. The tray vignette was really simple with just some green ivy, orbs and a concrete sphere.
For winter I did a little purging and editing of the room’s end tables, but basically, the room stayed the same. I brought in a change of pillows and a new coffee table vignette. Still a simple white tray vignette with ivy and brown candles.
The pillows were shades of black and beige. By mixing patterns and adding a little whimsy with the “hello” pillow, it still had character.
For spring I removed the leopard pillow and changed up the vignette on the coffee table again.
The white tray was swapped out for a straw basket and a simple vignette of ivy and candles. A few sunflowers for fun.
Making just a few changes can transform any room with the seasons. What’s your favorite way to make a change?
