I love black and white buffalo checks, in fact I like checks of any color. When this fabulous pillow was offered by Target, I immediately tried to buy one. Not available in the store and then sold out online. I have drooled over this pillow for ages, so I just had to make one.
See, here it is in a picture from 11 Magnolia Lane. She has great taste and this pillow looks fabulous on her sofa. Be sure to check out the link, her Holiday home tour is stunning.
I showed you these 4 fabrics that I ordered ages ago that finally came right after Christmas. I thought I would start with the check for my first pillow.
Now cutting fabric on the bias and making sure you have your stripes where you want them is a little bit tricky.
First off, I decided to make a template for the size of my pillow. 12 x 18, so I cut my template 13 x 19 so I would have a 1/2 seam allowance all around.
I had some wrapping paper that had 1 inch square cutting marks on the back. That was a huge bonus and made sure my measurements were right and the edges were all straight.
Next I found the center of the template and tried to put that mark on the center of the back square in the middle. Lined up my edges as best as I could and cut my pillow out. Now this does waste a lot of fabric, but I love the diagonal design, so it was worth it to me.
Cording is made, now to add the zipper and finish up this fun pillow.
This is what the rest of the room looks like with my Farmhouse Chic Black & White.
This large buffalo check carries the pattern to the other side of the room.
A fun bold print and one I am sure I will use often.
There have been some changes in how Google is handling Google Friend Connect. I noticed that approx 500 of my followers disappeared overnight. That was really a shock to me. Then I found this notice.
December 21, 2015
“In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.
As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.
“We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.
If you were following me previously, I would love for you to sign up for a Google account or sign up to follow with any of the following methods. I miss you and would love to continue our friendship. Thanks.
If you like Thrifty & Chic on a Budget like me, I would love to have you follow me on any of the following.
