Master Bedroom Drapes Are Done – Tutorial. This bedroom makeover is going slower than molasses. I can’t seem to find bedding that I like, but I am pressing on. Hopefully, I will find something soon. In the meantime, I made the drapes. Well, I sort of cheated, I bought a pair of the Lenda drapes from Ikea. You can’t beat them for the price. They have a great linen texture and for $34 for a pair, wow, material costs more than that. I show you several different ideas for customizing drapes here. I did a twist on the stripe edge.
I dressed them up with a more custom look by adding two black bands to the edge.
That is a lot of bang for the buck.
I used 2 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon for the wide stripe and 7/8 inch for the narrow stripe. This was very inexpensive. Walmart has a great selection. The 2 1/4″ came in a 9 ft. spool and was $2.97. I needed 8 1/2 ft. for each drape, so I bought 2 spools. The 7/8″ came in an 18 ft. spool and was $1.97. One did the trick. So the total cost was $7.91. How fabulous is that!!!!
(Hint – If you are remaking some readymade drapes, buy the longest pair you can find. I bought the 118″ panels. That let me turn the bottom up for a 4″ hem and turn the top down for a double 4″ header. This gives them a really professional look. Be sure to press them before you measure and cut, this way you will get nice straight hems. No wrinkles, so they lay super flat and even.)
I think these will be perfect when I find some white bedding.
Great a custom look for just under $42. Love it. Now the debate is on whether to paint or not – what do you think? The walls are currently a soft beige/camel color.
So, have you tried any of the Ikea drapes?
