I have been thrilled with all my new lamps for the living room, but a couple new projects and buys are total fails.
My new ottoman came and it is totally stunning. The finish, fabric and workmanship is gorgeous, – —
HOWEVER
there is one major problem- –
See the height of this thing. It measures 23 1/2 inches tall, that’s almost the same height as the arm of the chair. I’m not short but when I sit on it my feet dangle and how could you possibly put your feet up that high. I looked up the standard and most ottomans or benches are 17 or l8 inches high.
I’m not sure what this was made for, it’s way too high for a bench or an ottoman, so back it goes.
I did learn a couple of things from this adventure-
love the leopard, but too many legs and this crowds the room.
My second fail that I have really tried to talk myself into are the black/gold foil lined shades for the dining chandy. I love the look, but hate the light they give off. This is not a bad picture, they really make everything look yellow and the chandy just looks gawdy. The light at night is almost creepy with the yellow glow. My friend Laura (Decor to Adore) says it is perfect for Halloween. Not a good thing for everyday. I still want black shades, so I have ordered some with cream liners. We’ll see how that goes.
This is what my chandy really looks like. I just need some white or beige lined shades, nothing gold.
So back to the drawing board with part of my design for the remake of the room. You win some and lose some.
So how about you, any fails?
