I love the look of a bolster pillow, I think it always gives a decorator touch to any chair or sofa, but they aren’t always available.
They can be fancied up with some tassels or – —
really simple. It all depends on the look you are going for.
If you have been to Ikea lately then you have seen this $5 pillow, they have bins of them everywhere. I loved the fabric and thought maybe I could use it like a bolster, however I think it is a little big for my chair. No worry, a small revamp and it will be perfect.
Open one end and remove all of the stuffing.
Now you have a rectangle,
I am going to use the insert from my green pillow, so I remove the insert and lay the pillow cover on top of the black and white one to see how much smaller I need to make the rectangle.
Be sure to look for these inserts at Goodwill. They always have tons of them for $1.99, so buy a couple of different sizes.
I sewed the rectangle down one side to make it the size I needed and cut off the excess. You could use stitch witchery if you don’t sew.
Next just insert the pillow form making sure to center it so you have the same amount of excess fabric on each end.
Stitch it closed
Gather each end into a pouf and secure with a couple of rubber bands.
You could add a tassel if you want it fancy – –
or just leave it simple like I did.
Now it is the perfect size for my chair and the whole makeover took about 10 minutes.
A great finishing touch for my black and white room.
