How To Add Fall to the Guest Bedroom. Our home has 3 bedrooms. One as an office, one as the master bedroom, and that left one as a guest bedroom. This room is really small – only 10ft. x 11ft. so that takes some planning. The layout of the room allowed us to add a queen-size bed, dresser, end table, and chair. With the furniture taken care of, the next decisions concerned the bedding and decor.
Guest Bedroom Dressed For Summer
This room took on many different looks before it finally became the bedroom we have today. When we moved in, we used an extra bed we had and a few cast-off pieces of furniture that didn’t fit anywhere. Not pretty, but clean.
Once the house was halfway put together, it was time to try and make the Guest Bedroom look presentable. I found some thrift store pieces and started pulling the room together. First I found a headboard that I could makeover that would be the focal point of the room. You can see that makeover here.
Next, I found a great dresser at my favorite used furniture place, that was perfect. Love the classic design and it was in pristine condition. Fabulous find for $99.
Thrifty Store finds and a ton of DIY, and we finally had a presentable Guest Bedroom. This entire room was put together for $195.44. You can see all the many projects here. I found a gray quilt and pink sheets and made two pillows to add to the toile quilt I already had, and this room looks great. This is how I dressed it for Christmas when the room was done.
I love how neutral this room is. I can totally change the look with just a simple change in bedding. Black and white and checks are always in style.
Soft camel and white makes the room feel open and airy.
Adding a bit of gray to the camel is fun too.
Switching out to a camel quilt gave the room a totally different look and feel.
With a new picture that I borrowed from my daughter, the room took on a totally different look again. Soft and bright for Summer.
This room might not be big, but it does look inviting and serves its purpose well. I love that I can change things up so easily depending on my mood. For now I’ve left the white quilt, but I will change it out again later on for a more cozy fall look.
If you have a Guest Bedroom that needs some love, with a little planning and some DIY it can be a great space for pennies.
Looks great. Changing the picture on the wall made a big difference. Where does your son stay ? The eternal question: did you find a sofa?
