Digging Through My Stash

You know how sometimes you get so use to seeing something that you don’t even see it at all anymore.  I think my dining area art wall was exactly like that.

I love this painting and it is going to stay, but all of the stuff on the sides has to go.  As I was dusting the other day it just looked like way too much and too busy.  I need something clean and simple or maybe nothing.

Busy, busy.  The plates and corbels are ok, but I am over the lady figurines and I want simple and chic. (These are the only pictures I could find in my archives of it all up close.)

I remembered some sconces in my stash and wondered if they would work.  I love the pretty fluted detail on the brass and the hurricane.  I’ve had these for probably 50 years, some of my first accessories.

The sun is so bright, it is hard to get a good picture, but these are exactly what I was looking for.  Simple and clean lines.

The painting is really big, 55″ tall and the sconces are 20″ so they actually work.

In person they show up much better and actually are really nice for a change.  This is totally classic.

I think I will add some crystals to the chandy and dress it up a little too, or would that be too much?

So what do you think?
