Hello! I’m Leslie and I blog at House on the Way, a home decor & design blog where we are on our way to a beautiful home. I want to give a big thank you to Marty for inviting me to participate in her Show Off and Inspire series! On July 21st, I will be celebrating my 1 year anniversary of blogging and Marty has always been a big supporter. I am honored to be here!

Welcome to My House

Seven years ago, my husband and I were out driving on a Saturday afternoon. We were driving through a neighborhood when we saw a for sale sign in the front yard of this gorgeous house. We slowed down to look and noticed a man in the driveway motioning to us. He happened to be the builder and he gave us an impromptu tour. I loved it as soon as I walked up to the front door. I love my front door! (In fact, if you notice…my blog header is my door.)

As I share some of my favorite aspects of my home, I think you will notice two things…1) I love color..and 2) My favorite color is red!

Living Room

Yes, it’s bold…but I love it! I love the fact that my sofa makes a statement. It says, “Look at me!”

Living Room Chairs

My coordinating chairs flank a glass top gold table that is one of my favorite pieces. It has such a unique, elegant shape. I am really loving metallics right now, especially gold.

I think you’ll notice that I mix patterns and prints and I mix the old with the new. My late grandmother was an antique dealer and I grew to love the rustic primitive look of antiques, but I like to pair them with newer, contemporary pieces. I truly love an eclectic, layered look in a home.

Kitchen Table

My kitchen has maple cabinets with gray and black countertops. The design of the tile backsplash is one of my favorite things about my kitchen.

Kitchen

My large Welsh Cabinet is one of my favorite pieces of furniture. My grandmother had it built for her sunroom years ago and I bought it from her years later. It’s a great piece for displaying my favorite pottery pieces and I love the substantial size.

Dining Room

If you visit my blog, you’ll also discover that I love monograms! I will monogram anything and most of them are DIY, like my burlap monogrammed banner.

Corner Cabinet

Let me show you my swan. Last year I found a picture of a wooden swan sign that I found in a magazine. I held on to that picture till I finally created my own. I love it so much! It hangs above my mantel.

In our basement, we had some custom bookcases built. The room was an odd shape but this area was the perfect spot for the bookcases. The moulding and detail are beautiful and I love the crisp clean white.

Bookcases

I have an antique round table in the space in front of the bookcases. The kids use it constantly as a game table. I also have four stools instead of chairs. The stools came from HomeGoods and they each had a different fabric on the seat. I recovered them with this great black and white cheetah print.

Basement Table

This is my favorite gallery wall. It is not only beautiful, but it serves a very important purpose…it’s excellent camouflage! It covers some ugly electrical boxes on the wall. Every picture is black and white and none of them are traditional posed pictures. They are all very candid, unique shots of my children. I could stand and look at those pictures for hours.

These are a few of my rooms, decorative items and furniture pieces that are my favorite in my home. I have loved sharing with you today and Marty has been so gracious to have me visit!  I’d love for you to pay me a visit over at House on the Way and explore the rest of my home tour as well as my DIYs, crafts, decorating tips, helpful hints and more!

You’re Always Welcome at My House!
