Donut Topiary Tutorial & a Feature

We got together last weekend for an early Mothers day and I wanted to have something for my daughter, so since I have been on a kick making topiaries, I thought I would make one for her.

A donut topiary in an urn is what I came up with.  She is always looking for tall skinny things to put on her mantel, so this will work beautifully.

Yes, I know as long as I’ve been blogging, you would think I would take before pictures, but really this is such a no brainer, there’s not much to take a picture of.  I started with a small twig wreath and then simply hot glued some ivy to it.

I just took a small ivy bush I found at Michaels, cut the stems off with a wire cutter, then cut the stems into small sections so I could bend then and hot glue them to the twig wreath.  Find some sticks in the backyard and hot glue them to the wreath, place in some floral foam in your favorite container and surround with more ivy, and done.

There was enough ivy in that one bush to make another one, so I think I have one for me.They look so pretty anywhere, I love to see the light shining through them.  They make a great present and so easy to do.Also, I was surprised and featured on SheKnows.

A grandmother and retiree, Marty, author of the blog A Stroll Thru Life, and her husband made the decision to downsize their home. They chose their new home based on the neighborhood and workable floor plan, but it needed a few updates to feel like home. Marty decided to spruce up the dull cabinets and white walls in the basic builder kitchen with dark chocolate-brown paint and better lighting fixtures.
Marty’s favorite part of her kitchen renovation is her island. Marty mentions that she loves the island not only for its beauty, but also for its functionality. Not only does she have the space to cook and entertain as she likes, but she can also relax and sip a cup of coffee. She mentions that her new kitchen represents her new casual and slower lifestyle.
This was a fun surprise.
