What Is A “Cloche”

Every time we have a “Cloche Party” I get all kinds of emails from some of you saying you really don’t know how to find a cloche or how to decorate with one.  Well, we use the word “cloche” for our parties very loosely.  We include apothecary jars, hurricanes, birdcages, cake and cheese domes and just about anything we can dream up to decorate inside and under and call it a “cloche”.  So look around, I am sure you have something that qualifies.  Now it can be glass, metal, iron, wicker, chicken wire and Lord knows what, but it will work.

Now for those that say they can’t figure out how to use one, here are a few really, really simple ones that I have used in vignettes in the past.  Maybe this will help give you some ideas.

You can’t get any easier than a hurrican filled with corks next to a wine basket display.  So use your hurricanes and figure out something to put inside and create a vignette using it.

My favorite  rooster cloche and my pigs.  Super easy too.  I know you can do this.

This is my second favorite cloche, it is huge and I can put half the house under it.    Again, super easy with just a little farmer figurine, a cow and a bucket of green foliage.

My cake dome holding some fruit and cheese.

A small silver dish holding a faux cupcake under the cloche.

My rooster cloche holding a glass pitcher filled with antique silverware.

How about a cheese dome filled with apples.

Ok, a big hurrican with coffee beans, a gold pumpkin and pearl sprig.

This was actually an outdoor lantern and came with a glass insert to shield the candle from the wind, however, with the glass removed, it became a cloche.  I have filled this with all kinds of things.

So think outside the box and figure out what you have to use as a “Cloche” and join the party.  Can’t wait to see your imagination at work.

Don’t forget, mark your calendars for Feb.11th.  Our Cloche Party will replace Table Top Tuesday for that week.
