It seems like one change always leads to more changes. If you have been following along, then you know that we have been on the hunt for two new recliners for the family room. Adding new chairs in there meant a lot of furniture shuffling around, so of course, some things moved from the family room to other rooms. One change that really surprised me was – New Breakfast Room Chairs.
The breakfast room got a change in all the shuffle. I have had my farmhouse trestle table and ladderback chairs for years. I love them. The style of the ladderback is one of my favorite things. I have two captains chairs for the ends of the table and I have always used them. Time to change things up so everything isn’t so matchy-matchy.
When I did a refresh in the family room a while back I used two thrifted wicker chairs I found to give that room a new look.
Now they needed a new home with all the furniture shuffling, so I tried them in the breakfast area and I love them. What a fun fresh change to this area.
As you can see from this picture, this is a hard area to photograph. The breakfast area is at the end of the kitchen so it is hard to get a good angle photo of the space. You can see how the area looked with the two captains ladderback chairs.
Now this is the view with the wicker chairs. I love this look.
There is ample room in this area, it is just hard to find a place to photograph so you get the full view. This is the view as you come in from the garage.
Looking over the island, this is the view you have. I love how the table takes on a totally different look with the wicker chairs. So much more informal and casual.
I did a minor makeover of the tablesetting I already had.
Swapping out the runners gave it a new look and I also switched out some of the greenery.
I love how different this area looks. Change is always fun, don’t you think?
(I am always asked – that is an antique French Wood Carved Rooster that I’ve had for years. One of my favorite treasures).
I feel like I have a whole new room. Now to get the family room switched around with the new chairs. Stay tuned.
SHOP THE LOOK
I love the wicker at the end of your table. I did that a few years ago and bought two wicker DR chairs at Pier One and use them at my DR table. Of course, they make a good sitting chair to pull for extra seating chairs. LOL Can’t wait to see your two new recliners!
I love the chairs in the breakfast room! Those chairs are so versatile and stylish, they have looked good each time you have moved them. Keepers, for sure. I have a question; the narrow basket at the end of your counter that you store cookie sheets in, etc., have you ever seen another one anywhere? I have looked and looked online and thrift stores and I can’t even come close. I’ve even looked at the basket stores and nothing. It’s just such a clever size for storage, you would think someone would come up with a copy. Yours looks like an antique.
Actually mine is an Ammo Basket. Check online for Ammo Baskets and I think you will find several to choose from. I store my cutting boards in mine. Sometimes they are also called Umbrella baskets. Hope that helps. Marty
Looks great!
Thanks, Marty. If I remember correctly, you are the one who posted about the ammo basket and its history. I found it so interesting that I have been looking for it for at least 4 years now. Thanks for sharing that post. That one bears repeating just for the history.
Love love love the new look! You have such a great eye for decorating.
I am always so excited to see what you are up to. Love what you have done with the chairs but now need to know what is in their spot???
You do know, I have cleaned out my closet and do makeup daily. Not a big makeup job but better then nothing. Keep inspiring me to do better.

Good for you. I try every day to do makeup too and make sure that I look presentable. You go girl, we can do this.
I am excited to see what you replaced the chairs with. Love your blog, you give me that I can do it feeling.

Those look great there! What a great idea!
Hi Marty,
What a difference those wicker chairs make. They are perfect for your breakfast area.
Great that you could reuse them.
Hugs,
Kris
I agree with the others, the wicker chairs look perfect in the breakfast room! It’s so much fun to change things around. I find it not only gives the room a lift, it gives me a lift! People who are afraid to try new things don’t know what they’re missing.
The antique butter churn in the corner I also love, you don’t find many of them on a stand like that. Now I will also look into
the ammo basket, your idea for them is great.
Karen
