I am thrilled to be joining the 2019 Holiday Tour Of Homes hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style. A week full of beautiful Christmas decor sharing tons of inspiration for every room in your house.
Today I am part of the Living Room/Den series and I am sharing our Family Room. If you came over from The Pink Clutch I am sure you were inspired by Paige’s gorgeous home. I absolutely adore how she fills her home with fabulous color.
Now let’s get this party started – – -2019 Evolution of Style Christmas – Family Room
Christmas is always the most fun when you have the wide-eyed wonder of children. We have a little 2 1/2-year-old grandson that is so much fun to watch this year as he experiences all the delights of everything Christmas. We decided to make our tree in the family room a tree with all the old children’s ornaments from years past. Some of these ornaments are ones our children remember from when they were little.
Red plaid just seemed like the perfect accent for an old fashioned Christmas.
The coffee table holds my favorite rustic Santa. He’s accompanied by his trusty grey horse that helps him plow through the snow in the backwoods.
A toy red truck is filled with tons of presents for all the little ones.
A cute pair of faux ice skates hang by the tree – – -and
this tiny tree has survived for years. It continues to bring a smile and tons of memories.
An old fashioned Christmas is always the best.
Be sure to check back in on December 9th for the beginning of the 2019 Christmas Home Tours. 30 homes over 5 days sharing their beautiful Christmas Decor.

Hermosa decoración Marty, El árbol de navidad traerá valiosos recuerdos con sus adornos….Saludos desde Costa Rica.
You’re right, Marty. Red plaid is the best! I love how your room is decorated with so many lovely memories. Thanks for touring with us again this year! XO, Christy
I love seeing your family room and I love the old-fashion plaid ribbon you used on your tree! Marty, is it hard to place ribbon on a Christmas tree? We used to use the entire roll of ribbon and drape it like garland! Could you explain to me how you place the ribbon on your tree? It is so beautiful the way you have it. As always, your horse picture whispers to my heart and makes me smile – I just love that picture. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Thanks so much Connie. The ribbon is so easy, I just cut lengths about 16″ long on this smaller tree and then tuck one end in and them drape the ribbon down a branch and then tuck the other end in. I alternate the direction of the drapes and done. I found some really great tutorials on line that are wonderful, some people have this totally mastered. Marty
Oh Miss Marty I LOVE the tartan tree! The faux ice skates are just darling too.
I love the plaid Marty! I always miss using red when I don’t incorporate it in my Christmas decor. I think you are right, traditional is always best! I can’t wait until I have grandkids so I can see the magic in their eyes at Christmas time. I am probably only a few years away from that stage and I look forward to it! XO JEN
Hi Marty,
Love the plaid you used in your decor this year. So pretty. Love seeing all the beautiful homes on tour.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Kris
Marty, I love your traditional red plaid – it is timeless and so gorgeous! So fun that you’re using al of your children’s ornaments too – such a beautiful sentiment! Merry Christmas!
Your home looks wonderful at Christmas and always, Marty! I’m a sucker for an old fashioned Christmas – they’re the best kind!
It’s so festive and beautiful and I love the plaid ribbon and the ornaments your children will remember! Best kind of Christmas there is – family and memories!
