Wardrobe Update-New Year New Me

Ok, it has been a while since I did a review of my closet and makeup to make sure that I don’t look too frumpy or outdated.  I tend to get in such a rut and wear the same things all the time.  I am still trying to loose another 15 lbs.  So far I have lost 15, but I really needed to lose 30, so now I am back on the push to just get it done.  I hate feeling like this and not feeling good no matter what I am wearing.  Time for a Wardrobe Update – New Year New Me

I got some really pretty new clothes for Christmas.  My daughter has such good taste and she always buys me some pretty things.   I added a few things to the Jacket, Pants and Blouse that she gave me.

She gave me a great new pair of slacks from Ann Taylor.  Side zip and tapered ankle.  I really, really like them.

This fabulous jacket was also on sale, so my daughter just ordered it for me.  This will make a wonderful suit with the pants.

She gave me a blouse that was fabulous, but a little too small, so I exchanged it.  They didn’t have the one she got me, but this pretty striped one came home with me.  Love the fabric and the style is so pretty on. The little pleats at the collar and cuffs are perfect.

While I was at Ann Taylor’s exchanging my things, I found a couple more items that I just had to have.  There were having a 70% off sale on so many things, so the prices were just amazing.  I found this pretty Feathered Cuff Sweater marked down from $129 to $24.88.  Of course, it had to come home with me too.

I also found this really pretty blouse. It is a smocked tie-neck popover.  This was marked down from $79.50 to $19.88.  This is such a great piece to dress up or down.

It was time for a fresh pair of jeans so I bought my favorite pair of Mid-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans at Old Navy.

I needed to buy some fresh makeup too.

I went back to an old standby Clinique.  I really like their CC Cream.  Super easy to apply and does not feel heavy on my face.

For a little added highlights, I really enjoy the Maybelline Strobing Stick.  I use it high on the cheekbone right under the corner of my eye, down the bridge of my nose and the tip of my chin.  This gives my face a little illumination but doesn’t make it shiny.

This is a great soft blush by Clinique that again looks natural.

For a bronzer, I really enjoy the Laura Geller Baked Blush & Brighten in Tropical Hues.  This works really well when I begin to tan.

I think I am all set for a while.  All my new things blind into my wardrobe beautifully and can be dressed up or down.  Now to lose those extra 15lbs and look my best.

I’m really casual most days and my normal uniform consists of plaid shirts, tee shirts, and leggings or jeans.  I have tons of plaid shirts and tee-shirts in just about every color.  When I find something I like, I usually buy in multiples.  I have the split neck top shown in purple in red, navy and black too.  It washes well, doesn’t wrinkle and looks just as good with jeans or leggings as it does dressed up.

While I was at it, I cleaned up my closet too.  We are lucky enough to have two closets in the master bedroom, so I get to have my very own closet which is such a luxury.

I love having it purged and cleaned up too.  I took two bags to Goodwill and threw two bags away, then cleaned and reorganized everything.  Now I am ready to go again.

I even cleaned out the storage bins on the shelves, now they are practically empty.  Time for everything to get a good cleaning.  All my handbags got a good cleaning too.

How about you, did you redo any of your wardrobe or makeup so far this year?

I have a really bad sweet tooth, but I love salty too. Then add in bread and I am in trouble. I am tring to eat more protein and a ton of vegetables. Dieting is hard.

    Hi Marty,
I feel your pain re: dieting. I love sweet and salty as well and not such a fan of veggies but trying to get more of them into my diet. Have you come across any yummy but healthy recipes? Love all the clothing choices. I am with you and really need to take off about 30 pounds to deal with health issues. Your closet is gorgeous, looks like boutique. I want to do this as well.
You are a great motivator! Thanks

I have been eating quite a few salads. I make homemade ranch dressing, thin it down and use it sparingly. Then I top my salads with chicken or ham, avocado and hard boiled eggs. This makes me think it is a whole meal and I can be satisfied. I have been using the grill for all my meats, so no frying. I have also been drinking tons of water. No really great recipes, just trying to eat smarter and smaller. I switched from a dinner plate to a sandwich place, so that cut down on the amount and yet I feel like I had a real meal. Good luck on your diet too. Marty

Thanks Marty, sounds like this has been working for you. I’m liking the idea of the salad with ham avocado and eggs. There really is no magic bullet, I really just need to keep those salty and sweet things out of the house. Keep up the good work!

Lovely garment choices and now motivated to get my closet done…on the list this week. I am impressed you lost 15 lbs. I’m up 15 too and last year it took fromFeb thru August to lose 8 by making healthier choices but then I was torpedoed by a late summer vacay & slide right into family birthdays and holidays gaining it all back. boo hoo. how did it take you to lose 15? I’m 66 and love carbs + snacks. Love your blog.

I have just been trying to eat lots of protein and mostly salads. It is a struggle because I love bread and have a huge sweet tooth. I just really need to get this weight off so I am going to try to stick to it. Marty

    Hi Marty,
Love all your choices. Very classy and fun. I have off sugar and feel so much better with joints etc. My addiction is carbs and sugar so this has been a challenge. Congrats on the 15lb and here’s to 15 more.
    Have a great new week.
    Hugs,
    Kris

    Hi Marty,
Like all your new clothing. That sweater is really cute with the feathered sleeves.
Congratulations on your weight loss. I have to get back to it too. I had lost about
5 pds. but just couldn’t move anymore, then along came the holidays and well,
You know!! lol Your casual everyday wear sounds just mine.

I am gonna take a look at some of your make up, especially the highlighter. I
don’t use foundation cause I just don’t like how it looks on me. So I am just
    a blush wearer.

Your closet looks amazing….I so need to get in mine and get busy, so this
was a motivating post for me too.

    Blessings hon,
    Nellie
